The Wine Emporium

WineBeerLiquorMiscGift

Although beers are brewed from similar materials, beers throughout the world have distinctive styles. Their uniqueness comes from the mineral content of the water used, the types of ingredients employed, and the difference in brewing methods. In a strict sense, there are two classical beer styles, ales and lagers. However, in addition to ales and lagers, there are other classical beer styles such as wheat beers, porters, stouts, and lambics ...

We have  more than 300 beers to offer you all year long !

Featured Beer at the Wine Emporium

Sah'tea - Dogfish Head Craft Brewery; Milton, DE

The brewers at Dogfish are known for pushing the limits of what beer is and can be.  Sah'tea is no exception: a variation on the Finnish Sahti style, Sah'tea is a light, cloudy ale, brewed with black chai tea and juniper berries.  It is sweet, somewhat spicy, has a warming alcohol finish and is perfect for a cool Fall night.

9% ABV, $12.99/750ml

Flower Power IPA - Ithaca Beer Co.; Ithaca, NY

Flower Power is a fantastic West Coast-style India Pale Ale (IPA), but with some of the refinement more common to East Coast beers.  The Flowers of the name refer, of course, to the hop flowers whose floral, citrusy, and slightly bitter taste dominate (but don't overwhelm) this beer.

8% ABV, $11.99/six pack

Avant Garde Ale - The Lost Abbey/PortsBrewing Co.; San Marcos, CA

From the hotbed of craft beer that is San Diego County, comes this French/Belgian-style Biere de Garde.  Biere de Gardes are a traditional farmhouse ale, made in the summer and fall, aged, and consumed during the winter and spring. Avant Garde is an American interpretation of the style, with a toasty malt character, slight bitterness, and hints of pepper and yeast.  Try this with soft farmhouse cheeses and cold cuts.

7% ABV, $12.29/750ml

Samichlaus Bier 2007 - Castle Brewery Eggenberg; Eggenberg, Austria

Unquestionably one of the world's outstanding beers, Samichlaus (Santa Claus in German) is brewed each December 6 and aged for 10 months before bottling.  Our bottles were brewed in December of 2007 and have been bottle-aged for an additional six months to enhance the beer's complexity and drinkability.  Samichlaus shows hints of dark fruit and caramel, and is great as a digestive. It also works beautifully with cigars.

14% ABV, $5.69/330ml bottle

WildDevil Ale - Victory Brewing Company; Downington, PA

In recent years there's been a trend in American craft beer towards making "wild" ales. This involves fermenting batches of beer with wild yeast strains rather than commercial brewing yeast. Wild ales are tart, sometimes sour and have many layers of complexity.  WildDevil takes Victory's Hop Devil Double-IPA and infects it with Brewttanomces.  The result is an ale with an initial smack of hop bitterness, citrussy and floral hop flavor, and a tart, dry finish.  Certainly one of the most complex beers in the store.

6.7% ABV, $9.29/750ml

Fourteen - Weyerbacher Brewing Company; Easton, PA

TO celebrate it's fourteenth birthday Weyerbacher has decided to tackle a style which is very rarely attempted: Wheatwine.  Wheatwine is a distinctly American invention - a hybrid between an English Barleywine (strong, hoppy ale) and a wheat beer. Weyerbacher's is a particularly smooth example of the style.  It has hints of citrus, caramel, floral hops, and booze.  Another great after-dinner beverage, this one would also be wonderful with a creme-brulee.

11.8% ABV, $3.75/12ox or $14.99/four-pack
